A luminous streamer appears to connect the two objects in this false color image. Yet the recessional velocities of the objects differ by about 2 percent of the speed of light, which places them more than 300 light years apartΓÇöfar too great a distance for interaction. Like NGC 4319 and Markarian 205, these objects only appear close to each other.
Note that spiral galaxy NGC 7603, the larger object in the image, is also a Seyfert galaxy. Some of the light from the galaxyΓÇÖs center comes not from stars but from an active nucleus, the center of which is probably a huge black hole.
